The rates of newborns born physically dependent on drugs they were exposed to in the womb continue to grow in Lee County and the rest of Florida. Doctors call it neonatal abstinence syndrome. Such babies often must spend weeks or months slowly detoxing in hospitals before they're ready to go home.
